UNSIGHTLY advertising hoardings on the fencing around the pitches at Cardigan rugby and football clubs are to be removed.

The town council is to crack down on people putting up posters without permission.

“Some of them have been there for months and are broken and look terrible,” said Cllr John Adams-Lewis.

“Anyone putting up a hoarding should get permission and it just not look good all the way up from the bowls club to Aldi. If they don’t have permission, they will be taken down”

Cllr Steffan Morgan said this had been going for some time and had been discussed before by the council.

“When we talked about it before people were given a time slot. We want to advertise events but I don’t agree with businesses using the fence as an advertising board. It’s not appropriate.”

Councillors agreed to approve the use of temporary advertising hoardings as a form of income on both fences around the football and rugby pitches. However, signs placed on the fence on Aberystwyth Road will be removed if permission from the town council has not been obtained.
