A 67-year-old man has been given a suspended jail sentence for carrying out a campaign of harassment against a woman and assaulting her.
Robin Nigel Winnell, of Great Darkgate Street, Aberystwyth, pleaded guilty when he appeared before magistrates at Aberystwyth Justice Centre to assaulting the woman at Llandysul between October 1 and October 20 last year. He had previously denied that charge.
Winnell also admitted various acts of harassment between September 19, 2020 and November 5, 2020.
An application for a stalking protection order was withdrawn.
Magistrates sentenced Winnell to a total of 14 weeks in prison suspended for 24 months. As part of a rehabilitation order, he has to take part in an accredited programme for 30 days.
A five-year restraining order was made against Winnell preventing him from contacting his victim by any means.
Winnell must also pay prosecution costs of £120 and a £128 victim surcharge.
