A MAN who held a knife during an assault at Newcastle Emlyn has been sent to prison.

William Michael Paul Parker, aged 28, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to carrying out the assault on another man by beating him at Adpar, Newcastle Emlyn on December 14 when he appeared by video link at Aberystwyth Justice Centre.

Magistrates jailed Parker for 12 weeks because of the seriousness of the injuries caused to the victim, the fact that Parker had a knife and also because the offence was committed while he was on licence.

Parker was also ordered to pay £100 compensation, along with a victim surcharge of £128.
