AN EGLWYSWRW man must pay more than £1,300 after admitting assault and using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour, or disorderly behaviour, with the intention of causing harassment, alarm or distress.

Gareth James David Morse, of Maes Hafren, appeared in front of Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Monday, January 4.

He pleaded guilty to assaulting Marcus Shaun Karenin by beating him and to using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour or disorderly behaviour with the intent to cause Mr Karenin harassment, alarm or distress.

Both offences took place in Eglwyswrw on November 6 last year.

Morse, aged 40, was fined £500 for both offences. He was also ordered to pay £125 compensation, a £100 victim surcharge and £85 costs to the Crown Prosecution Service.

This came to a total of £1,310 which must be paid by the beginning of next month.

Magistrates took Morse's guilty plea into account when imposing their sentence. They did not impose a restraining order as it was not considered 'necessary or proportionate in the circumstances'.
