A HOST of local groups and associations have been successful in obtaining grants from Cardigan Town Council this year.

The council usually carries out this process in April and September but due to the coronavirus outbreak only held one meeting this year in September.

Many of the traditional donations are missing due to events being cancelled such as Gwyl Fawr, the River and Food Festival and Barley Saturday.

The grant approved for Cardigan Oxygen Therapy Centre was a request for match-funding for Clive Evans and his colleagues who cycled from John O’Groats to Lands End in eight days, and the council thought it very appropriate to support such a mammoth undertaking for a deserving cause benefiting local people.

The council is now accepting applications for small grants for next April, closing date March 31, 2021. For further information contact town clerk Eleri Maskell, at the council office,
