A CARDIGAN man has been banned from the roads for 14 months for drink-driving.

Aaron Kinsella, of Golwg y Castell, Cardigan, who had originally denied the charge, pleaded guilty to driving a vehicle when the amount of alcohol in his breath exceeded the prescribed limit when he appeared at Aberystwyth Justice Centre.

He drove a VW Golf on the A487 Cardigan to Ridgeway roundabout on March 22 when he had 44 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.

A charge of failing to report an accident, to which Kinsella pleaded not guilty, was dismissed with no evidence offered.

As well as a 14-month driving ban, magistrates fined the 31-year-old £135, along with £200 prosecution costs and a £32 victim surcharge.
