‘STAY apart to play your part’ is the message in Ceredigion as the coronavirus pandemic threatens to take a fresh grip over the coming winter months.

A spokesperson for Ceredigion County Council said: “Usually, this is a time for festivities and gatherings with the clocks going back and people looking forward to Halloween and Bonfire night.

“However this year, Ceredigion residents are reminded not to put themselves or others in danger of catching or spreading the coronavirus and are strongly advised to limit their social contact as much as possible.

“This includes steering clear of any traditional trick or treating and organising or attending Halloween parties.

“People should not meet indoors with anyone other than their extended household members. This applies both at home and in public places, such as pubs and restaurants. This means that Halloween parties this year are not allowed as we seek to prevent the spread of the virus.

“Similarly, people are encouraged not to risk a coronavirus outbreak in the community by organising or attending a firework display, attracting large gatherings as no more than 30 people can meet together outdoors.

“If you plan to arrange a small, private firework display for your household, you should always follow strict health and safety guidelines for both the fireworks itself and the coronavirus risk. No firework displays will be held on Ceredigion County Council’s grounds.

“The more people who meet in close contact, the more chance they have of catching and spreading the virus. This is difficult but we ask you to make this sacrifice this year so that we can protect our communities, our friends and our families.

“Ceredigion County Council are working with key partners, including Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service and Dyfed Powys Police to ensure public safety during this busy period.
