Recently residents at Betws Ifan have admired the placing of a new seat at Penlon Square.

The seat was donated to the community by Mrs Rose Decaux, Golwg y Cwm,Betws Ifan, in memory of her late husband Geoffrey - Geoff the Plum as he was fondly known.

He was a heating engineer and his services were known to a wide area in Ceredigion.

The family moved to Betws in 1999 from Cardiff.

Rose has three children and six grandchildren and feels indebted to the community of friends in Betws Ifan and is settled and active locally.

The donation of the bench to the village is a gesture of her thanks for the support shown to her by the residents.

The bench was accepted by Cllr Llion Davies, vice-chairman of Beulah Community Council; a vote of thanks was proposed by County Councillor Lyndon Lloyd and the bench was constructed by Glyn Morgan, Caemorgan, Betws Ifan.
