CHARITIES across the area are set to benefit from the recent lockdown competitions staged in Cardigan.

Various competitions were organised by Cardigan Town Council, with the winners able to nominate their favourite charities to receive a donation.

Town mayor Cllr Clive Davies said: "It was just something to help donate to local charities and involving the community in a positive and fun way.

“I would like to say thank you once again for everyone’s support.”

Among the winners were Mags Lawson for life in lockdown - Megan Harris and her dog Milly; Maria Belotti for the natural world - dragon fly perched on a stick; Rebecca Grace for edible garden - rediscovered gardening while shielding and home schooling; Harry Damsell for creative garden - having given so much pleasure to neighbours and on-lookers passing his front garden; Samantha Oley for container garden - given Sam a much slower and rewarding pace of life; Sandy McCarthy for hidden Cardigan - things hidden in plain sight; Samantha Hill for Cardigan’s Got Talent for her cover of ‘Out of my head’.

The nominated Charities to receive donations from the winning entries are Cardigan Oxygen Therapy Centre; Hen Ysgol y Ferwig, 3rd Cardigan Sea Scouts, Alzheimers Research UK, RNLI New Quay, Ceredigion Air Ambulance, Cardigan Foodbank, Aberporth New Village Hall Fund, Wateraid and Cancer Research UK.
