PUPILS at Crymych’s Ysgol y Preseli were today celebrating their A-level successes.

Commenting on this year’s exam results, headteacher Mr Michael Davies said: “All students at Ysgol y Preseli receiving their A/AS Level examination results today should be proud of their efforts and we congratulate them on their achievements.

“I am particularly pleased that despite the challenging circumstances of COVID-19, the vast majority of learners have attained places at the universities of their choice, apprenticeships and employment and all at the school wish them every success in the future.

“Today’s results have been achieved against a backdrop of extraordinary disruption and uncertainty and young people and their teachers must be given the credit they deserve for an outstanding set of results which are the culmination of much hard work on their part.

“As headmaster I wish to thank all Year 13 pupils for their extensive contribution to all aspects of school life throughout their time at Ysgol y Preseli.

“I am confident that they will go on to become responsible, influential, bilingual and highly principled citizens and I wish them every success. I would also like to thank all parents and guardians for their continued support and co-operation during what has been a difficult and challenging time for everyone.

"I am also indebted to my hardworking staff and governing body for their ongoing commitment and support.”

Notable successes were: William Lloyd, a highly focused student who has all the attributes required to successfully complete a degree in engineering. He attained an A* in mathematics, an A* in geography and an A* in physics.  He also attained an A in his further mathematics AS course.

Nia Stedman returned to Ysgol y Preseli in order to follow a vocational route. She has completed BTEC Level 3 qualifications in sport and health and social care and successfully completed the advanced skills challenge certificate as part of the Welsh Baccalaureate qualification.

She also achieved distinction* in sport, distinction in health and social care and an A grade in the Welsh Bac skills challenge certificate.

Ffion Thomas' contribution to the extra -curricular work of the music department has been outstanding. Her impressive skillset was recognised earlier this year when she was elected as head girl at Ysgol y Preseli. Her talent has resulted in her gaining a place to study music at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff.
