A CARDIGAN butcher has launched a charity cookbook to raise funds for the NHS as a way of saying thank you for the efforts of health workers during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Dewi James a’i Gwmni, based on the High Street in town and also at Newcastle Emlyn, has brought out a book entitled ‘Chefs in Isolation’, tapping into the culinary knowledge of some of its customers to produce a series of mouth-watering recipes.

“We have produced the book to show our appreciation for the NHS and everything they have done of us,” said Dafydd Davies, from Dewi James.

“These guys have been absolute heroes during the Covid-19 outbreak and we want to show out appreciation and could not think of a better way to do it that to include some of out great catering customers who have given us some fantastic recipes with all abilities catered for.

“We have put it all into this one book and for every book sold, £5 will go to the NHS.”

There are around 20 recipes in the book, with most of them fairly straightforward, although, as Dafydd admits, the recipe from award-winning Blas restaurant at Twr y Felin Hotel, St davids, might prove something of a test for the ordinary kitchen cook.

The recipe book, which costs £14.99, is available from the two shops in Cardigan and Newcastle Emlyn, as well as on the company’s website and from Awen Teifi in Cardigan.
