AMBITIOUS plans to further upgrade and improve what was the Webley Hotel with extra bedrooms and function room will be up for discussion by Pembrokeshire planners next week.

The former Webley Hotel - now renamed the Teifi Waterside Hotel - has already undergone an extensive refurbishment and the latest plans look to add an extra seven bedrooms, along with a function room and new entrance hall to the building overlooking the Teifi estuary.

Pembrokeshire County Council’s planning committee is recommended to approve the application which will double the amount of rooms available with the existing seven also in need of modernisation and refurbishment.

The three-storey building is between St Dogmaels and Poppit Sands and includes a detached building of flats and garages which would be partly demolished to make room for part of the proposed extension.

A planning report to the committee on July 28 sates that a semi-circular gable will be created with a second smaller two storey section extending into the current parking area, at the back the extra rooms will be in an extension over the kitchen/storage area.

A previous extension to the kitchen area was approved in January 2020.

The front of the hotel would see a new indoor seating area extension with views of the estuary.

“The proposed development would have social and economic benefits through the refurbishment, modernisation and expansion of the existing hotel in this countryside location to provide a higher standard of facility in this tourist location, to serve an increased number of guests with the provision of a function room and additional guest rooms,” states the report.
