A PENCADER driver who was more than twice the legal drink-drive limit has been banned from the roads for 23 months.

Thomas Daniel Williams, of Llanfihangel-ar-Arth, Pencader, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol after being stopped while at the wheel of a Vauxhall Vivaro on the A485 at New Inn on April 9.

Williams had 91 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.

As well as a 23-month driving ban, magistrates at Aberystwyth Justice Centre imposed a community order requiring the 25-year-old to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work within the next 12 months. He was also ordered to pay £85 prosecution costs and a £90 victim surcharge.
