A LLANDYSUL motorist who was more than double the legal drink drive limit and failed to stop after an accident has been hit by a 40-month driving ban.

Scott Cerri Griffiths, of Bro’r Orsaf, Llanfihangel Ar Ath, Llandysul, pleaded guilty to charges of driving while exceeding the prescribed alcohol limit and of failing to stop after the accident on September 20 last year.

Aberystwyth Justice centre heard that Griffiths was at the wheel of a Vauxhall Corsa van on the B4459 at Pencader and failed to stop after an accident which caused damage to a Mitsubishi Shogun.

Griffiths had 86 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.

As well as a 40-month driving ban, magistrates imposed a community order on the 28-year-old with a 16-day rehabilitation requirement and 150 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months.

Griffiths must also pay £85 in prosecution costs and a £90 victim surcharge.
