A NEWCASTLE Emlyn personal fitness trainer has come up with a month-long event to help raise money for two charities in the local area.

David Maund, who runs Hydro Dragon Events which stages long-distance challenges, is no stranger to raising cash for local good causes, having carried out several endurance tests of his own over the past few years.

But now he is looking to get the local community involved and taking on a fitness challenge, while at the same time benefiting Cardigan Cancer Care and Cardigan Charity Fundraising Appeal.

“It’s something both young and old can get involved in and do at your own pace,” said David.

“Hopefully, it will capture people’s imagination and get them out and about after lockdown while also helping two local charities, who like so many have seen their fund-raising efforts hit hard because of the coronavirus pandemic.

“This is a good way to help them out while keeping people fit and active.

“It would be a great thing to do with the kids and people will be able to post pictures of themselves and follow each other’s progress on Facebook.”

The idea is for people to take on a 10km challenge every weekend during July – so that’s four separate parts – which you can run, walk or jog at your own pace, all , of course, observing social distancing rules.

Entry is £15 and includes a special limited edition charity medal and t-shirt, with discounts for family and group entries.

For the more athletic/adventurous, there is also a 150km challenge over the month, plus a cycling option, either outdoors or on an exercise bike.
