THE body of a man has been found on a beach in Tywyn during the search for missing Cardigan man Alan Hurley.
The 71-year-old pensioner was reported missing last weekend and an extensive search was carried out in the Aberporth area after Mr Hurley’s vehicle, a maroon Grand Cherokee Jeep, was found parked in Aberporth car park.
Officers made house-to-house inquiries in the Aberporth area and searches were conducted along the coastal path involving the police helicopter, local Coastguard units and Cardigan RNLI crews.
A police statement said: “Dyfed-Powys Police can confirm that the body of a male has been found on the beach in Tywyn during the search for Mr Alan Hurley, who had been reported missing.
“Formal identification has not yet taken place. However Mr Hurley’s family have been informed of this development. Our thoughts remain with the family at this time.”
