A YOUNG volunteer at Jig-So Children’s Centre in Cardigan has had his efforts recognised by the Royal Horticultural Society

Owen Harries, a pupil at Newcastle Emlyn School, hosts his own regular blog ‘The Welsh Gardener’.

Among other things, he produces a weekly video for Jig-So that is shown on the group’s Facebook page every Wednesday.

In the video, Owen shares ideas with children and families on all aspects of gardening, encouraging them to get their hands dirty and grow their own crops.

And now, one of Owen’s videos has been shown on the Royal Horticultural Society Virtual Chelsea Flower Show 2020/My Flower Garden website.

Linda Grace, chair of trustees at Jig-So, said: “We all value and appreciate the enormous benefits on our wellbeing been able to be in our gardens and outdoors close to home.

“Owen shares lots of ideas and he has in the past facilitated a workshop at Jig-So along with the local gardening author Huw Richards for young children.

“Trustees and staff were delighted to see that a video from Owen made the Royal Horticultural Society website and would like to say a big ‘well done’.”
