A CARDIGAN fitness challenge has helped raise more than £500 for two charities.

Laura Winter, from Cardigan Swimming Pool, Rhian Davies and Wayne Hoyland took part in a sponsored 1,000 burpees or press up challenge. The girls chose burpees and Wayne chose press ups.

The event was live-streamed to Facebook so no cheating could be involved!

A total of £280 was raised for Cardigan Oxygen Therapy Centre and £275 for Wayne’s chosen charity Victa, for children and young adults who are blind or partially sighted.

The team aren’t stopping either and this week’s challenge is to cycle 112 miles on a static bike which is the distance In an iron man triathlon - all this again will be for Cardigan Oxygen Therapy Centre.

The team has grown and seven amazing athletes will take part in the challenge - Laura Winter, Jez Broughton, Rhian Davies, Wayne Hoyland, Russell Williams, Jodie Dunseath and Gemma Tracey.

Also local hero Daren Howe is on board, who is going to be giving up alcohol for week. The link to donate is justgiving.com/fundraising/1000burpeesinadaylaurarhian
