WELSH Water has warned local residents to be on the look-out for conmen posing as bogus workers claiming not be testing water supplies for coronavirus.
“We know there are some bogus callers posing as Welsh Water employees at people’s properties, claiming to need to check the water supply for traces of Covid-19 coronavirus,” said a Welsh Water statement.
“This is not true. We are not conducting these checks – so please don’t let anyone in who is saying they need to. If you are approached by a bogus caller, call police on 101.
“During the coronavirus outbreak, we are only carrying visits to properties where absolutely necessary or in an emergency.
“All Welsh Water colleagues carry identification badges which you can check through the verification line on 0800 281 141.”
