A NEWCASTLE Emlyn drug-driver has been banned from the roads for 12 months.

Curtis Jones, of Market Square, Newcastle Emlyn, was driving an MG ZR at Carmarthen on September 25 last year when he was stopped. A positive drug test for delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (cannabis) showed he had 12 microgrammes per lire of blood. The legal limit is two microgrammes.

The 22-year-old pleaded guilty to driving while exceeding the specified drug limit when he appeared at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court.

As well as the year-long driving ban, Jones was fined £120 and ordered to pay £85 prosecution costs and a £32 victim surcharge.
