PARKING charges are set to rise once again in Cardigan.
The new figures were put to Ceredigion County Council’s thriving communities scrutiny committee ahead of approval of the new county budget for 2020-21.
An hour’s stay is set to go up from £1.50 to £1.60; two hours goes up from £1.80 to £1.90 and three hours from £2.60 to £2.80. A full day’s parking will cost £3 – up from £2.80.
Car parks in Cardigan raised more than £300,000 for the county council in 2018/19 – a third of the total for the entire county.
An overall total of £944,824.50 was generated by Ceredigion County Council’s public car parks - of which Cardigan drivers coughed up £314,907.57.
The town council and traders have strongly criticised the county council's parking policy, arguing that Cardigan is paying a disproportionate amount to the detriment of the high street.
