ARGUS Camera Club members were ready to capture the magic as a super snow moon appeared on Saturday night.
The moon was visible just before the winds picked up for Storm Ciara.
Each month’s full moon is given a different nickname based on the time of year in which it occurs.
The snow moon is the most common nickname for February’s full moon, but others include the hunger moon, the bone moon and the storm moon.
This weekend’s moon was extra special as it was the first in a series of super moons this year, with others in March, April and May.
It was visible from across Sussex, even shining out above the lights on Brighton seafront, as witnessed above the Queen’s Hotel by Luisao Sanchez and over the pier roundabout.
A super moon occurs when the moon’s orbit is closest to Earth at the same time it is full.
Check weather forecasts and fingers crossed for a clear night for future super moons.
There is also set to be a super full moon on March 9 – so there is not long to wait until the next one.
Mark the date in your diary.
