A MOTORIST who failed a drugs test and was also found with cannabis in his car when stopped at Synod Inn has been banned from driving and fined.
Andrew Allen Boothby, of Cellan, Lampeter, was driving a BMW on the A486 at Synod Inn on August 22 when he was caught. He tested positive for delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (cannabis) with 6.6 microgrammes per litre of blood. The legal limit is 2 microgrammes.
The 23-year-old pleaded guilty to drug-driving when he appeared at Aberystwyth Justice Centre. He also admitted possessing 93.45grammes of cannabis.
Magistrates banned him from driving for 12 months and Boothby was also fined a total of £320, with costs of £85 and a £32 victim surcharge. The cannabis was ordered to be destroyed.
