THE Eglwyswrw War Memorial has now been extended to include four more names.

Three of the men died after the war had ended, but their deaths were due to injuries or illnesses relating to their war time military service and this is now recognized by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC).

The names added to the memorial are Fred Waller (Welsh Regiment), Thomas Sallis (Royal Welsh Fusiliers), Morris Bowen (Royal Navy) and Thomas Bowen (Royal Navy).

The work was paid for from a fund raised to install a remembrance seat near the War Memorial at St Cristiolus Church, Eglwyswrw to mark the centenary of the end of World War One.

The community project was made possible by generous donations from local organizations, and private individuals, both local and further afield.

The work was carried out by St Davids slate engraver, Malcolm Gray, of Glasfryn Slate Workshop.
