THE problem of flooding in Cardigan is once again back on the radar.

Cllr Catrin Miles told the town council that a meeting is scheduled to be held in January between Natural Resources Wales, Welsh Water and Ceredigion County Council to discuss the issue and that it was then hoped to involve the local community.

“We are trying to resurrect the Teifi management board that has not met for some time,” said Cllr Miles.

Cllr Graham Evans felt a more co-ordinated approach was needed to solve the problem.

“There does not seem to be anyone leading on this matter at the moment,” said Cllr Evans.

“We need one person or one body to take the initiative and hopefully get everyone together. We cannot have everyone working on their own.

“We had plans from NRW four or five years ago regarding flooding but no defence barriers have yet been built.”

Cllr Miles agreed and added: “Schemes have been given the go-ahead in places like Aberaeron and Aberystwyth and we need to shout a bit louder.”

Cardigan mayor Cllr Shan Williams said: “We are at the end of the line down here, I am sorry to say.”
