A CARDIGAN woman who was nearly three times over the legal drink-drive limit has been banned from the roads for 40 months and given a community order.

Irene Mary James, of Fishguard Road, Cardigan, was driving a Mitsubishi at Feidr Fair, in Cardigan on November 3, when she was caught. She had 101 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.

The 55-year-old pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol when she appeared before magistrates at Aberystwyth Justice Centre.

As well as a 40-month driving ban, magistrates imposed a community rehabilitation order and fined James £150. She was also ordered to pay £85 in prosecution costs and a £90 victim surcharge.
