A PENCADER man has escaped a driving ban under the totting up process due to mitigating circumstances.
Paul John Haydon, of Maesycrugiau, Pencader, pleaded guilty at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court to driving a VW Touareg at 88mph on the A48 at Pensarn, Caramrthen.
The 51-year-old was fined £70, with £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge and three points added to his licence but he was not disqualified as the bench heard he would be unable to continue his employment and two businesses (convenience store and agricultural surveyor); the impact of the loss of income on his ability to pay his mortgage and support his family; the impact on his employees – two full-time and two part-time staff and his inability to attend medical appointments if banned.
