SKANDA Vale Hospice is looking for new volunteers to help out at its centre.

The hospice at Saron, Llandysul, is a free, nurse-led service that cares for adults with a life-limiting illness.

Now it is planning to expand its services and is looking to recruit.

“Next year we plan to increase the care we provide, so we are on a mission to find warm hearts and willing hands to help us do it,” said clinical volunteer coordinator, Nicky Gilbert, who has been part of the volunteer team at the hospice for many years.

“We’d love to hear from you, whether or not you have a background in care or nursing. The care team is where we have the most need, but we have many other opportunities available, from companion roles to cooking, driving, reception and more.

“Love is the hallmark here, and it is a joy and a privilege to work in such a wonderful place, alongside amazing people who give their time wholeheartedly. So if you think you may like to join us, please get in touch.

“A volunteer recruitment day is being held on Saturday, January 25 from 10am to 4pm so if you or someone you know are looking to fulfil a New Year’s Resolution, come along and explore the possibility of joining us.”

And on a slightly different note, if you fancy cooking up something new and warming as the evenings draw in, then the Skanda Vale Cook Book App could be just the thing.

Available from Google and Apple stores, the inspiration came from the hospice’s founder who was a particularly skilful cook and thoroughly enjoyed preparing meals for guests. Some of his favourite recipes feature and all proceeds go to the hospice.
