A NEWCASTLE Emlyn woman must pay nearly £500 in compensation and costs after admitting assault and criminal damage.

Kayleigh Shakespeare, of Penlan Terrace, Newcastle Emlyn, pleaded guilty to assaulting another woman in the town on February 17. She also pleaded guilty to smashing the rear window of a vehicle on the same date, causing £400 of damage.

A further charge of damaging a necklace was dismissed.

Magistrates at Aberystwyth Justice Centre imposed a six-month conditional discharge on the 22-year-old and she was ordered to pay £85 compensation for the assault and £300 compensation for the damage.

Shakespeare must also pay £85 costs and £15 victim surcharge.
