SISTERS Wendy and Janet Morgan, from Llechryd, have just completed two half marathons within a month.

On September 9, Wendy, 58, travelled up to her sister’s home in Newcastle where both ladies ran in the Great North Run.

Less than a month later, on October 6, fifty-four-year-old Janet returned the favour by travelling down to her sister’s home in Cardiff, where they ran the Cardiff half marathon together.

“Both races were fantastic, with amazing atmospheres and lovely supportive crowds.” said Janet, who achieved a fantastic personal best of two hours 30 minutes in Cardiff.

“My aim is always to try to keep up with my younger sister,” said Wendy, “but I can never quite hang on to her – it was always the same when we were growing up!”

Janet and Wendy grew up on Castle Malgwyn Farm in Llechryd.

“We only discovered running a couple of years ago and with such fantastic events being held in both of our cities, it seemed like a great challenge to try to run both,” added Wendy.

Following the Cardiff half marathon, Janet and Wendy travelled down to visit their mum Brenda Morgan, who lives at Llys Owen in Cardigan, where they presented her with their medals.

Brenda, who recently celebrated her 90th birthday, said: “I don’t know where they get their energy from. They are fantastic strong women and I am so proud of them both."
