Volunteers in Ceredigion organised three fundraisers in a fortnight to raise over £2,700 for farming charity RABI.
A coffee morning in Cardigan on August 17 was followed by a duck race in Felinfach the next day and a tractor run from the Ffostrasol Arms in Llandysul on September 1. The tractor run was held in memory of Mervyn Smith, a stalwart of RABI’s Ceredigion committee. Forty-six tractors took part, visiting several locations that had been important to Mervyn.
The Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution supports farming people of all ages with financial grants, practical care and guidance. In 2019, it has so far given out more than £1.82m in Wales and England, including over £38,000 to families in Ceredigion.
Euros Davies, chair of RABI’s Ceredigion committee, said: “I would like to thank everyone who attended these fundraisers. These events don’t just happen, they require planning and rely on people giving their time. We’re especially grateful to Nigel Smith and his family for helping to organise the tractor run, along with Gareth Davies and Arthur Davies and his staff at the Ffostrasol Arms.”
Regional manager for Wales, Linda Jones, added: “Our Ceredigion volunteers have been extremely busy and three events in a fortnight is certainly impressive. Their dedication and commitment is inspiring. We would also like to thank Daioni Organic for supporting our coffee morning and Gareth Davies, Glanwern, Felinfach for allowing us to hold the duck race at his farm.”
