TWO people were taken to hospital following a crash on the A487 coast road near Synod Inn today (Friday, September 13).

The accident happened at around 11.15am and closed the main road between Cardigan and Aberystwyth for more than two hours while emergency services dealt with the incident.

The Welsh Air Ambulance, police, fire and rescue crews from New Quay and Aberaeron and the Welsh Ambulance Service were all called to the scene.

Two vehicles were involved in the collision, with three people injured included one male casualty who had to be freed from his vehicle by the firefighters.

A spokesman for the Air Ambulance said: “The charity’s Dafen-based aircraft was tasked to the scene arriving at 12.21pm. Following triage and treatment from the Welsh Flying Medics, the injured were conveyed to Glangwili hospital at Carmarthen by road ambulance.”

The condition of those injured is not known.
