AN Aberporth driver fined £440 after she was clocked driving at 43mph in a 30mph zone has seen her penalty reduced to £70 after magistrates accepted that she had been unaware of the proceedings against her.
Sian Elizabeth Broderick, of Clos y Fferm, faced a bill totally £550, including costs and surcharges, after she was found guilty under the single justice procedure at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court of breaking the speed limit on the A484 at Newcastle Emlyn on March 5.
However, the 54-year-old made a statutory declaration at Aberystwyth Justice Centre on August 29 that she had been unaware of the proceedings at Llanelli following a house move.
Magistrates re-opened the case and Broderick admitted the offence.
She was fined £70 and ordered to pay a £30 victim surcharge. No additional charge was made in relation to court costs.
Her licence was endorsed with four penalty points.
