IT was paddles at the ready for the seventh annual Newcastle Emlyn charity raft race on the River Teifi on Sunday (August 25).
The popular event has raised thousands of pounds for local charities over the years, with this year’s race once again staged around the castle.
There were seven entries in total with money raised this time going to local charities King George V playing fields, The Rookery and adult mental health charity HUTS Workshop at Adpar.
There was a good crowd in the castle grounds to cheer on the intrepid paddlers. The first raft to finish with a convincing lead was Tahnee Canon and team DD (Double D), while last to finish was Central Cafe who had difficulties with their raft which broke in two.
Other teams were from The Bunch of Grapes, The Pelican and The Plough.
