IF you’re wondering whether the Ceredigion Art Trail is still running – drawing visitors in for the open studio weeks in August - it most definitely is and the latest artists’ directory is now out.

Now in its eighth year, the members of the Ceredigion Art Trail have been busy rethinking the approach. It could now be called a Smart Trail – art accessed from your smartphone as you journey around west Wales.

“With more tourists and locals alike using technology to access what’s on locally, we decided last year to establish an online trail-finder,” said Jamie Herschel, the group’s chair.

“Art Trail members can showcase their work with details of where and when it can be seen, alongside maps of the area.”

There are several exhibitions on now or in the coming weeks. These include the Pongarreg Art4U Summer show, and a display of the humourous tongue-in-cheek paintings of Ag Cain at the Aberaeron Tourist Information Centre.

The artists’ collective Now We Are Nine is displaying paintings, felt, jewellery, metalwork, glass and sculpture at Aberglasney Gardens next month.

If you can’t wait until then, the Picturemakers have their summer exhibition at Aberystwyth Arts Centre all this month.

And with a few months of the 2019 Year of Discovery in Wales still left, these artists and makers are encouraging us to discover our creative side – either by taking part in a painting, pottery or glass workshop, or purely as an onlooker soaking up the sights and colours of the work that can be found right on our doorsteps.

For further information on the artists taking part head to the Ceredigion Art Trail website – or pick up a directory at leading galleries, shops and tourist information centres.
