A PERSON was airlifted to hospital from Newport Sands beach following a medical emergency yesterday afternoon (Thursday, August 15).
A spokesman for Wales Air Ambulance said: “The charity’s Dafen-based aircraft received a call at 16.50 and was mobilised at 16:53.
“The 'Welsh Flying Medics' landed on scene at 17.12 and airlifted a patient to UHW Cardiff. The helicopter left the scene at 18:23 and arrived at hospital 18:58.
Moylegrove Coastguard Unit, the Welsh Ambulance Service and RNLI Lifeguards also attended the incident.
