REGARDING the recent letter from Richard Sayce (June 11) warning us of the likely dumping of nuclear waste off our coast I can only say that I am glad that at least someone is awake to this possibility.
Before we, as protesters, congratulate ourselves on a job well done, we need to be aware of the bigger picture.
It will only be a matter of time, I believe, before we could be the recipients of nuclear waste now that inroads have been made.
We must not rest on our laurels but should be vigilant in order to keep our waters and ourselves safe from the irreversible harm which could befall us.
This is no laughing matter, (unlike growing lemons in our gardens) and the support of our councillors would be most welcome.
We must not let these big companies win.
I hope that if the gauntlet is thrown down we will not hesitate before picking it up.
