A NIGHT-time road closure is being put in place on the A484 between Cardigan and Carmarthen near Bronwydd Arms for essential maintenance works.

Contractors are being brought in by Carmarthenshire County Council to carry out work on the A484, where temporary traffic lights have been in position for around two years.

A reinforced concrete wall is being built to support the road and parts of the protruding rock face on the western side of the carriageway - near the entrance to Pante Farm – will be scaled back.

Work has been underway for a few weeks already but due to the limited working area a night-time closure is essential to enable the road to remain open during the day.

The closure is scheduled between 7pm and 6am, starting on Tuesday, May 28, 2019, for approximately 28 nights.

Notices have been placed adjacent to the highway and road signs will give advance warning of the planned closure.

Diversions will be via the B4301 and A485 and will be signposted.

The 7.09pm Carmarthen to Cardigan and the 6.50pm Cardigan to Carmarthen 460 bus service will operate via the diversionary route.

Cllr Hazel Evans, executive board member for environment, said: “We apologise for any inconvenience while these essential works are underway and thank motorists in advance for their cooperation.”
