A FOOTBALL referee in the Costcutter Ceredigion League has been accused of racially abusing a player.

The alleged incident is said to have occurred during a cup game last month when the referee was a spectator and is said to have shouted at a player taking a throw-in.

A source at the club involved, which has not been officially named, said there was disappointment that apparently no action has been taken and it is understood a second complaint was being lodged yesterday (Monday).

The source told the Tivyside: “It looks like this is being swept under the carpet and it is such an emotive issue at this time that something should be done.”

Central Wales disciplinary secretary Paul Morgan declined to comment.

CWFA chairman Will Lloyd Williams said: “I have not seen the paperwork and until I have done so it would not be appropriate to comment.”
