THE world-renowned Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition, on loan from the Natural History Museum in London, will open at Brighton Museum & Art Gallery.

From May 18 it will feature exceptional images which capture fascinating animal behaviour, spectacular species and the breathtaking diversity of the natural world.

To celebrate The Argus Camera Club, in partnership with Brighton Museum, is launching a photography competition to find the best wildlife and nature images from Sussex.

The images can be of spectacular landscapes, shots of flowers, birds, insects and animals or stunning seascapes.

Winners will be awarded a £50 prize and two Brighton Explorer passes which give entry to the Royal Pavilion, British Airways i360 and Sea Life Brighton. There is an additional category for young people under 14 and the prize will be Explorer passes for a family of four. The young person prize will also get the £50 prize.

Entries can be uploaded to the Argus Camera Club Facebook page from today and the winners will be chosen at the end of June by staff from Brighton Museum and The Argus. All pictures uploaded to the camera club’s Facebook page from May 8 until the end of June will automatically be entered. This means this latest camera club competition will last for two months. Those entering the Young Persons competition will need to have their pictures uploaded by somebody old enough to use Facebook, and clearly marked as a young person entry.

While we want to enjoy your photos we need to issue a word of warning. Please do not put yourself at risk while taking any photos or cause harm or distress to any wildlife.

Wildlife Photographer of the Year is the most prestigious photography event of its kind, providing a global platform that showcases the natural world’s most astonishing and challenging sights for over 50 years. Launching in 1965 and attracting 361 entries, today the competition receives almost 50,000 entries from over 90 countries highlighting its enduring appeal.
