THE recent annual meeting of St Dogmaels Memorial Hall again failed to grab villagers’ attention as only two people turned up.
Cllr Phil Hutchings – who is chairman of the hall’s management committee – told a meeting of St Dogmaels Community Council: “The village support was virtually nil.
“We need people to try to set up an events committee to raise funds for the hall to keep it going.
“We have money in the kitty but that is earmarked for capital projects. It is costing around £10,000 a year to run and we are falling short of that. We need people to use it more.”
The hall has recently undergone a £20,000 facelift but villagers have been warned in the past that they must ‘use it or lose it’.
A public meeting was held last year in an effort to drum up support. The committee has also been meeting with other village hall organisations to swap ideas and best practice.
