A CARDIGAN man has been remanded on conditional bail after pleading not guilty to burglary at a town shop.

Steven David Whitfield, of no fixed abode, denied entering Go Mango wholefoods premises on October 18 last year and stealing approximately £70 in cash and a charity box containing around £30.

The 45 year-old also denied stealing keys to the shop when he appeared at Aberystwyth Justice Centre.

Whitfield pleaded guilty to a string of other charges. He admitted dishonestly using electricity to the value of £117.56 in Cardigan between July 1, 2017 and November 18, 2018.

He also admitted possessing 0.13 grams of clonazolam, a controlled class C drug, in Cardigan on November 12 last year, stealing a bottle of vodka from Aldi supermarket in the town on November 15 and smashing a window at Williams Row, Cardigan, on February 19.

Whitfield was remanded on bail by magistrates until June 18, when he will stand trial on the theft charges and be sentenced for the other offences.
