ONE of the BT phone boxes outside the Guildhall in Cardigan is set to be removed.
Town councillors heard that the two boxes next to the cannon were used 10 times a week between them and that BT was prepared to remove either one or both.
Further town centre phone boxes are located at Napier Street, Finch’s Square and one by the cenotaph.
Cllr Shan Williams said: “Can we take one away and see if we get any complaints? People still have the right to have access to a public phone and 10 people are using them every week for a reason.
“Perhaps it is people coming in to town to do their shopping and they then want to ring for a taxi but don’t have a phone.”
Councillors voted to remove one of the boxes and will monitor the usage of the other phones.
