THE fifth annual Food Awards Wales are back – with a host of businesses from the Cardigan area nominated by their customers.

Following the success of the competition over the last four years, a black-tie event will take place at the Exchange Hotel in Cardiff, on Monday, May 13, when the best professionals of the Welsh food industry will gather to celebrate the success of local suppliers, servers and businesses.

The awards seek to recognise the hard work and efforts of those committed to always providing the local communities with the freshest of products and tastes.

They will also showcase the best restaurants, takeaways, pubs, hotel restaurants, cafes and bistros.

Among those businesses in the Cardigan area, El Salsa has been nominated in two categories – best Mexican establishment and best street food.

El Salsa, Cardigan Bay Fish, The Pentre Arms at Langrannog and Tafell A Tan all enjoyed success last year and will be looking for a repeat this time around.

A spokesperson for The Food Awards Wales 2019 said: “We have had an overwhelming response from the public who voted for their favourite establishments and suppliers.

“All finalists should feel very proud of themselves as it is their clients who have put them forward to get the recognition they deserve.
