A CARDIGAN builder has set himself the daunting task of running 100 miles in only three days to raise money for two local charities.

Clive Evans is looking to raise £2,000 to divide between Cardigan Cancer Care and Cardigan Swimming Pool when he runs from Cardiff to Cardigan.

The epic run will start on Friday, May 3 from Cardiff Castle and finish on Sunday, May 5 at Cardigan Castle.

“The cancer charity is something very close to my heart while it is also important that we have a pool in the town as everyone needs to learn to swim especially as we live on the coast. It is vital we keep it,” said Clive, who at the moment is racking up the miles in training.

“It is going to be tough but I will be looking to slow the pace down a bit and looking to do each leg in seven or eight hours. Anyone wanting to help or run with me for part of the way would be very welcome.

“It’s all about giving something back to the community. I have been running for seven years now and looking to make up for lost time.”

Clive is certainly no stranger to putting himself through the mill.

In 2017, along with three other members of Cardigan Running Club, he successfully completed the gruelling 56-mile Comrades Marathon in South Africa in scorching temperatures.

He also raised £3,500 for Cardigan Cancer Care, Autism Pembrokeshire and Pembrokeshire Blind Society after a 39.1-mile run from Aberystwyth RFC to Cardigan RFC.

And this year, as well as his 100-mile challenge, he is looking to compete in two Ironman events – the Nottingham Outlaw and Tenby events.
