CARDIGAN’S RNLI Atlantic-class lifeboat was called out to a fishing vessel that appeared to be in trouble on the bar at the mouth of the Teifi on Monday evening (April 1).

The vessel was seen by a number of people and a call was made to Milford Haven Coastguard as people became increasingly concerned.

The Coastguard attempted to contact the vessel by VHF radio and when they were unable to establish contact, the lifeboat was requested to launch.

The crew were paged at 5.36pm and the lifeboat launched at 5.45pm.

On arrival it became apparent that the crew did not need any assistance and the vessel made its own way up-river to its mooring while the lifeboat stood by.

The lifeboat then returned to its Poppit Sands station and was made ready for service at 6.50pm.
