CARDIGAN Tourist Information Centre has closed its doors for the final time at its long-standing base at Theatr Mwldan.
The decision to shut down the service was made by Ceredigion County Council at the end of last year and the centre finally closed last week.
The authority had previously agreed that a £25,000 reduction in the TIC service budget was required.
Last August, the closure of New Quay TIC saved £5,000 and the remaining £20,000 saving will be made through the Cardigan closure.
The move had been strongly criticised by both Cardigan Town Council and Cardigan Traders but to no avail.
A leaflet provision will now be available at Cardigan Castle to provide information to visitors.
A TIC has operated from Theatr Mwldan in Cardigan since the 1980s. Ceredigion County Council will continue to provide an all-year manned TIC service at Aberystwyth and Aberaeron.
