THE relaunched Newcastle Emlyn Community Market proved popular with both shoppers and traders on Friday (March 29).

The bright sunny weather certainly drew the crowds and there were eight traders on show, selling everything from flowers to bread.

Organiser Sara Redman said: “We could not have asked for a better start for the market. The weather has certainly helped and all the traders are reporting a good day.

“There are so many fantastic local producers around the area and it’s all about the local community supporting each other. We have a waiting list for stall holders and hopefully we will be able to attract a few more and expand over the coming weeks.”

The new market will be held on the first and third Friday of every month.

It was a busy weekend in the town, as it also saw the launch of the new town leaflet by Newcastle Emlyn Traders which aims to promote local businesses and attract visitors to the area.

It was a busy couple of days, with many people taking advantage of the free parking over the weekend provided by Carmarthenshire County Council to go and do their shopping for Mother’s Day.

There was also a display of vintage cars in the Mart car park, which was also popular with both visitors and locals alike with many people reminiscing over the old cars which their parents had or some of the cars they drove when they were younger. There were nine cars in total.
