TWO people have appeared in court to plead guilty to animal cruelty charges.

Margaret Jean Cooper, aged 80, and Richard Cooper, aged 55, both of Gilfachwith, Horeb, Llandysul, were at Aberystwyth Justice Centre where they each admitted seven charges.

These included causing unnecessary suffering to 84 dead cattle on or before May 5 2018 and also failing to dispose of carcasses under animal by-products legislation.

The case was brought by Ceredigion county council officials.

Both were granted unconditional bail and the case was adjourned by magistrates until April 10 for pre-sentence reports to be prepared.
