A CEREDIGION woman is due to appear in court next week for refusing to pay her television licence as part of a campaign to devolve powers over broadcasting from Westminster to Wales.
Eiris Llywelyn, aged 68, of Ffostrasol, Llandysul, is due to appear before magistrates at Aberystwyth Justice Centre on Wednesday (April 3).
Campaign group Cymdeithas yr Iaith has come up with proposals for a devolved system of broadcasting. It claims that tens of millions of pounds extra would be available to invest in Welsh content on TV, radio and online through devolution with control over the licence fee and a new tax on big new media businesses like Netflix, YouTube and Facebook.
